The president responds to question from the members and is the go to person to speak with the employer on member issues. Enforce the CUPE Constitution, be empowered with approval of the membership, employ necessary clerical assistance to be paid for out of the Local’s funds

The vice president fills in for the president and is a resources to support the membership. Render assistance to any member of the Board as directed by the Board; and act in place of any member

The lead steward files the grievances for members, they are a great resources on the central and local language of the collective agreement. Be responsible for ensuring that all members are effectively and fairly represented in matters arising from the Collective Agreement and governing Legislation which can be adjusted through the grievance procedures

The treasurer handles all the finances for the local. They also fill in when needed and are available to answer questions. Throughout his/her term, and on behalf of the Local Union membership, be responsible for maintaining, organizing, safeguarding and keeping on file all supporting documents, authorizations, invoices and/ or vouchers for every disbursement made, receipts for all money sent to CUPE headquarters, as well records and supporting documents for all income received by the Local Union

The recording secretary is the record keeper for the local. They are a resources from answer members questions. You can also contact them for a copy of the membership meeting minutes. If you are looking for a particular item that was motioned and voted on, they are always in the months minutes they were motioned in. Be responsible for posting all Executive, General and Special meeting signs, maintenance and replacement of the material. Be empowered, with the approval of the membership, employ necessary clerical assistance to be paid for out of the Local’s funds
